“Classical results on propagation for the nonlinear heat equation”

“Enhancement of the Fisher-KPP propagation speed through heterogeneities in adjacent domains”
The two seminars will be completely independent.
In the first one, which is meant to be of introductory character, I will recall the classical result proved by D. G. Aronson and H. F. Weinberger on the speed of propagation for the nonlinear heat equation with different types of nonlinearities.
In the second seminar, I will present some results obtained in collaboration with H. Berestycki and L. Rossi (EHESS, Paris) showing that diffusion and reaction heterogeneities can increase the classical speed of propagation obtained in homogeneous cases for Fisher-KPP-type nonlinearities.
